Overview
This role represents the organization on claims-related legal matters. You will provide legal advice and counsel to claims personnel, maintain control of files and litigation costs, and develop, prepare, and implement claims litigation strategy.
Responsibilities
- Assign cases to outside counsel and evaluate their performance
- Provide legal advice and training to claims personnel to support consistent file handling
- Control litigation costs and claim severity
- Respond to subpoenas, court orders, and other legal requests in compliance with applicable laws and company policies
- Attend pertinent trials as needed (not serving as attorney of record)
- Provide oversight and supervision to outside counsel on claims-related litigation, as applicable
Requirements
- Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education, and training
- Must have passed the Bar exam
Location
- Remote or hybrid options available
- Based in Bloomington, Illinois
- Candidates within 50 miles of Bloomington will work a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days remote
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay range: $110,000-$151,250
- Incentive pay: eligible for a Short-Term Incentive plan
- Benefits package includes insurance benefits (medical, dental, vision, disability, and life) and 401(k) with company match
