Life Sciences Associate

Overview

A national law firm with over 1,400 attorneys across 46 offices is seeking a Life Sciences Associate for its San Francisco office. This role offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with a focus on life sciences and healthcare litigation, including medical malpractice, senior living and long-term care litigation, medical device product liability, and broader healthcare litigation matters. The position supports flexible hybrid or remote work arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other legal documents
• Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and offices to maintain a cohesive team environment
• Independently manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution
• Communicate with clients and provide regular status updates

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
• Admission to practice law in the state of California
• 2 to 8 years of defense litigation experience
• Experience in medical malpractice, senior living and long-term care litigation, or other healthcare-related cases
• Proficiency in drafting discovery and pretrial motions
• Preferred experience includes cross-examining plaintiffs and fact witnesses, court appearances, depositions, and trial experience
• Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $155,000 to $210,000 USD, with final offer based on experience, education, licensure, geographic location, and other factors
• Eligibility for discretionary bonuses
