Overview
This position offers hybrid or remote work options and requires the candidate to work Pacific Time hours. Candidates from any state within the employer's footprint are eligible, with preference given to those located in the Plano or San Diego areas who can commute to the office as needed. Previous experience in California litigation is required.
The role involves providing legal support and administrative assistance to attorneys representing financial institutions in bankruptcy, foreclosure, residential real estate, or mortgage law matters. This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime.
Responsibilities
- Support one or more litigation attorneys to ensure cases progress toward resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, notices, and other court filings for attorney review
- Prepare written discovery documents such as Requests for Production, Interrogatories, Requests for Admission, and proposed responses
- Request documents from clients to respond to written discovery
- Analyze incoming mail, court filings, and other communications to coordinate calendaring, responses, and case strategy with attorneys
- Update and manage attorney calendars and case dockets to ensure reminders and hearings are scheduled
- File pleadings and documents with courts
- Prepare tables of contents and tables of authorities in Word documents; edit documents for formatting and typographical accuracy
- Monitor litigation deadlines to ensure compliance
- Draft correspondence to borrowers, clerks, judges, clients, and others for attorney review
- Update client systems for assigned matters
- Maintain and organize case management systems
- Manage and prioritize multiple cases simultaneously
- Assist with other duties and special projects as needed
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal
- Experience with California litigation required
- Ability to work Pacific Time hours
- Paralegal certificate is a plus but not required
- Thorough knowledge of legal principles, research techniques, and terminology
- In-depth knowledge of government regulations
- Proficiency with relevant computer applications

- Hourly wage range: $23.47 to $30.49

Location
