Overview
A leading personal lines property and casualty insurance group in the United States is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to support its Folsom, California law office. This role primarily involves assisting in the defense of insureds involved in litigation, with approximately 80% of the caseload related to auto personal injury defense matters. The position is remote-eligible anywhere in the U.S. except Hawaii and Alaska, with occasional travel required for in-person meetings and events.
Responsibilities
- Review legal files and draft legal documents including discovery responses, trial documents, jury instructions, motions, and other pleadings.
- Calculate statutory deadlines and ensure assignments comply with these deadlines.
- Conduct legal research using electronic resources and law libraries on civil procedure and personal injury issues.
- Conduct insured client interviews for discovery purposes.
- Assist attorneys with preparation of evidence and coordinate with retained experts for trial, arbitration, and mediation readiness.
- Summarize plaintiff’s written discovery responses and follow up on subpoenas.
- Ensure compliance with mandatory continuing legal education requirements.
- Work primarily in a remote environment with infrequent travel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Paralegal certification per California Business & Professions Code Section 6450-6456 or as required by statute in other applicable states.
- Maintain current Paralegal Continuing Education requirements.
- Strong PC skills and proficiency with legal software applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe.
- Excellent written communication skills for composing legal documents.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Strong analytical, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
- Understanding of legal concepts, terminology, principles, procedures, and professional ethics.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a litigation team.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of prior experience as a paralegal.
- Knowledge of Electronic Legal Management systems such as iManage and TeamConnect.
- Notary license.
- Willingness to participate in company culture activities and support team collaboration.
- Ability to travel as needed for divisional/team meetings and other in-person events.
- Flexibility to support business needs, including extra time, cross-team assistance, and project participation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay range: $32.76 to $43.66, based on work location.
- Opportunity for an annual discretionary bonus of up to 7% of eligible pay through an Annual Incentive Plan.

Location
