Overview
This role involves exercising independent discretion and judgment in handling or directing litigated claims.
- Remote position with travel required to service western, New York.
- Preferred candidate should reside in Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, or Steuben County in the State of New York or surrounding areas.
- Territory may change based on business and service level needs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations, evaluate issues, and make recommendations regarding coverage, liability, and resolution strategies.
- Select, engage, and collaborate with defense counsel in the handling of lawsuits.
- Manage litigation expenses and ensure defense counsel adheres to billing guidelines.
- Comply with and direct defense counsel’s utilization of Outside Counsel Guidelines.
- Train and mentor.
- Document claim files.

Qualifications
Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and six years of experience handling litigation claims or legal experience, or equivalent; or
- Associate degree or paralegal certification and eight years of experience handling litigation claims or legal experience; or
- High school diploma or GED and ten years of experience handling litigation claims or legal experience.
Additional Requirements
- Strong knowledge of claims handling.
- Strong knowledge of tort law and insurance coverage.
Designations and Licenses
- Associate in Claims (AIC) or Senior Claim’s Law Associate (SCLA) designation preferred.
- Appropriate license as required by state.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
Preferred Qualifications
- AIC or SCLA designation preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range
- $88,693.00 - $141,678.00*
This salary range is for this level and may vary based on the actual level of the role hired.
The range represents a national range, and actual compensation will depend on factors including the scope and complexity of the role, skills, education, training, credentials, location (state) based on geographical differences, and applicant experience, as well as the level of role for which the successful candidate is hired. The position may be eligible for an annual bonus payment.
