Overview

A national law firm with over 1,400 attorneys across 46 offices is seeking a Managed Healthcare and Commercial Litigation Associate for its Los Angeles/Orange County office. This role offers an opportunity to work on a broad spectrum of business and consumer litigation for managed healthcare clients, including physician groups and health plans, involving complex litigation and regulatory matters.

Responsibilities

  • Defend and advise managed healthcare clients in complex litigation and regulatory matters
  • Handle business and consumer litigation matters such as commercial disputes, reimbursement disputes, provider-payor issues, arbitration, and healthcare-related litigation
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, discovery, and other legal documents
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and other litigation events
  • Manage a litigation caseload collaboratively with increasing responsibility
  • Work with clients, partners, and litigation teams on case strategy, legal analysis, and matter management
  • Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice areas
  • Communicate with clients providing status reports, case assessments, and updates

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Admission to practice law in the state of California
  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience
  • Experience in commercial litigation, healthcare litigation, managed care, insurance defense, business litigation, or related civil litigation preferred
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, reimbursement disputes, provider-payor issues, or related regulatory frameworks preferred
  • Experience with arbitration and alternative dispute resolution preferred
  • Proven ability to draft discovery, pleadings, dispositive motions, and pretrial motions
  • Experience cross-examining plaintiffs, fact witnesses, and/or experts preferred
  • Experience handling court appearances, depositions, mediations, and client communications preferred
  • Trial experience is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in managed care, insurance defense, or healthcare litigation

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $155,000 to $210,000 USD
  • Eligibility for discretionary bonuses
