Overview
A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Managing Lead Counsel to join the legal team supporting a joint venture focused on oncology research. This role provides comprehensive legal support to the Site Management Organization (SMO) business and select enterprise initiatives within a fully integrated oncology research organization aimed at expanding clinical research and accelerating drug development.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal advisor for the SMO business, including research site relationships, clinical trial operations, regulatory compliance, privacy, and contractual matters.
- Provide legal support for enterprise and cross-functional initiatives impacting the oncology research ecosystem.
- Collaborate closely with senior legal leadership to align legal strategy, risk tolerance, and business priorities.
- Manage and develop a team of legal professionals, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Assess legal and regulatory risks related to SMO operations and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Stay current on laws, regulations, and industry guidelines related to clinical trials, oncology research, and healthcare compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
- Active membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Typically 10+ years of legal counsel experience.
- Experience supporting healthcare clinical trials and/or clinical research operations; experience with SMO or site-based research operations strongly preferred.
- Expertise in commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
- Proven leadership experience managing legal teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong legal judgment with a pragmatic and strategic approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in technology licensing and data management.
- Ability to operate effectively within a legal leadership structure.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay range: $163,100 - $271,800
- Additional compensation may include annual bonuses and long-term incentives.
