Overview

A Michigan-based boutique law firm is seeking a part-time Civil Litigation Attorney with at least 5 years of civil litigation experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial litigation and/or landlord/tenant matters, including preparing cases for trial, representing clients in court, and managing all phases of litigation independently. This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in Michigan to attend court appearances and depositions as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of litigation matters and develop legal strategies
  • Prepare cases for trial
  • Conduct discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and other discovery documents
  • Prepare and argue motions, attend hearings, and participate in settlement negotiations
  • Represent clients in court, including trials, hearings, and appeals
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates and explain legal strategies

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably at a large law firm
  • Experience in commercial litigation and/or landlord/tenant matters preferred
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in Michigan
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, professional law firm environment

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annualized pay ranges from $140,000 to $165,000 on a full-time basis; contract pay is based on experience, qualifications, location, market factors, and candidate preference
