Overview

A Michigan-based boutique law firm is seeking a part-time Civil Litigation Attorney with at least 5 years of civil litigation experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise in commercial litigation and/or landlord/tenant matters, including case preparation for trial, courtroom representation, and managing all phases of litigation. This remote position requires residency in Michigan to attend court appearances and depositions as needed. Candidates must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in Michigan.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of litigation matters, develop legal strategies, and prepare cases for trial
  • Conduct discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and other discovery documents
  • Prepare and argue motions, attend hearings, and participate in settlement negotiations
  • Represent clients in court during trials, hearings, and appeals
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates and explain legal strategies

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably at a large law firm
  • Experience in commercial litigation and/or landlord/tenant law preferred
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in Michigan
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, professional law firm environment
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annualized pay ranges from $140,000 to $165,000 on a full-time basis, with contract pay rates determined by factors such as experience, qualifications, location, and market demand
