Overview
This role is for a part-time Civil Litigation Attorney with 5+ years of civil litigation experience. The position is remote, but you must live in Michigan to attend court appearances and depositions as needed. Candidates must be licensed and in good standing in Michigan.
Responsibilities
- Handle a caseload of civil litigation matters, develop legal strategies, and prepare cases for trial
- Conduct discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and other discovery documents
- Prepare and argue motions, attend hearings, and participate in settlement negotiations
- Represent clients in court, including trials, hearings, and appeals
- Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates on case progress and explain legal strategies
Requirements
- 5+ years of civil litigation experience
- Experience preferred in commercial litigation and/or landlord/tenant matters
- Licensed to practice and in good standing in Michigan
- J.D. from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
- Proven ability to handle cases independently
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, professional law firm setting

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $140,000-$165,000 when calculated on a full-time basis.
- Contract engagements: Pay is based on multiple factors including work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).
- Professional liability insurance: Complimentary professional liability insurance coverage for work or acts or omissions provided within the scope of a firm-authorized engagement.
- Health and life insurance: Eligible for full benefits when working 20+ hours per week, including group medical, dental, and vision insurance, and complimentary group life, LTD, and AD&D insurance.
- Retirement: A qualified 401K plan is also available.
- CLE and expenses: Benefits-eligible attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
