Overview
A national debt defense law firm is seeking a remote, full-time attorney licensed in Ohio to provide legal representation and limited-scope assistance to consumers involved in debt collection lawsuits. The firm focuses on cost-effective legal services for consumers and is experiencing rapid growth.
Responsibilities
- Represent and defend clients in collection cases initiated by original creditors or debt buyers.
- Provide limited-scope legal assistance, including reviewing and editing pro se answer drafts prepared by paralegals.
- Handle cases that typically do not require complex litigation or attendance at final hearings, as clients usually seek to settle through voluntary payment arrangements.
- Coordinate with local hearing attorneys if in-person attendance at hearings becomes necessary.
Requirements
- Licensed and in good standing with the Ohio Bar.
- Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation experience.
- Experience in high-volume consumer debt defense and/or collections is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in high-volume consumer debt defense and/or collections.
- At least 5 years of experience in high-volume civil litigation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary of $100,000.
- 10 days of paid time off with increases over time.
