Overview

A well-established legal practice with over 18 years of experience is seeking a Paralegal to join their Employment practice team. The firm specializes in Personal Injury, Employee Rights, and Consumer Class Action lawsuits, focusing on delivering high-quality legal services in discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, harassment, and related employment law matters.

This role involves working closely with attorneys and partners throughout the litigation process, managing a high volume of cases with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively. The position offers remote work options, with hybrid opportunities available at offices located in Downtown Los Angeles, Torrance, Irvine, or San Diego.

Responsibilities

  • Draft discovery documents, propound discovery, and prepare deposition notices for attorney review.
  • Prepare substantive responses for Plaintiffs and review Defendant responses.
  • Prepare Tables of Contents (TOC), Tables of Authorities (TOA), and other documents for filing with state and federal courts.
  • Draft meet and confer letters, complaints, witness statements, correspondence, and maintain regular communication with clients, experts, and defense counsel professionally.
  • Manage calendaring and scheduling of deadlines, ensuring accuracy and providing attorneys with reminders at 14, 7, and 3 days prior to deadlines.
  • Assist with pre-trial preparation, including drafting trial documents and preparing exhibits.
  • Communicate effectively with Partners and Associates.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of paralegal experience in Employment Litigation for Single Plaintiff cases (FEHA).
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal filing processes and the California Code of Civil Procedure.
  • Familiarity with DFEH and EEOC claims processes.
  • Experience drafting and propounding discovery, initial complaints, meet and confer responses, witness statements, disclosures, designation of experts, and objection letters.
  • Knowledge of e-Filing and California rules and deadlines related to discovery, deposition notices, entry of default, motions, Mandatory Settlement Conferences (MSC), Trial Setting Conferences (TSC), etc.
  • Federal procedure experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Litify, Milana, or similar legal software preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and strong follow-up abilities.
  • Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly rate: $36.50 to $52.89, equivalent to $72,000 to $110,000 annually, based on experience.
