Overview
Reporting to the Sr. Associate General Counsel of Marketing & Intellectual Property, this Paralegal role supports efforts to protect Olympic, Paralympic, and other organization intellectual property (IP) rights.
Responsibilities
- Investigate potential intellectual property infringement matters and draft letters and other correspondence to trademark/copyright infringers; track efforts through database management.
- Look for specimens for trademark filings.
- Draft responses to requests to use organization marks.
- Research the history of marks and review existing agreements for provisions related to IP inquiries or disputes.
- Assist in managing U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and U.S. Copyright Office filings and maintain internal files.
- Organize and maintain all IP matter files and ensure compliance with the organization’s document retention policy.
- Support anti-ambush efforts during the Olympic & Paralympic Games.
- Conduct IP research projects as needed.
- Assist marketing & IP attorneys in reviewing, researching, revising, and finalizing IP agreements.
- Attend negotiation meetings, take detailed notes, and prepare contract drafts at counsel’s direction in compliance with organization standards.
- Assist with IP litigation matters, including legal research, document production, writing memoranda, and maintaining a status log of ongoing cases.
- Perform other duties in the areas of marketing & IP as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Associate’s Degree preferred.
- Paralegal certification.
- 3+ years of legal experience in intellectual property law with a focus on trademark practice, including supporting a significant trademark portfolio (preferably in a large firm and/or corporate environment).
- Experience with amateur or professional sports organizations is beneficial but not required.
- Robust knowledge of trademark and copyright laws and licensing issues.
- Appreciation and sensitivity toward public relations issues.
- Working knowledge of social media and internet platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and organization skills.

Compensation & Benefits
- Hiring pay range: $36.00 - $38.00 per hour.
- Full-Time, Non-Exempt position intended to work 40 hours per week.
- Bonus: Eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 5% target. The organization may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.

Location
Colorado Springs Downtown Headquarters/Hybrid or remote option.
