Overview

An organization dedicated to supporting telemedicine abortion providers is seeking a Policy Counsel to advance its legal and policy agenda and strengthen strategic partnerships. This role involves developing expertise in emerging legal areas such as shield law protections, telehealth, and prescription drug regulation to support the expansion of telemedicine abortion care nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Track and analyze state and federal legislation affecting telemedicine abortion.
  • Draft legislation and collaborate with state and national partners to advance the legislative agenda.
  • Monitor litigation and federal actions impacting telehealth abortion.
  • Conduct legal research and work with external counsel to assess potential impacts.
  • Keep leadership informed of emerging legal threats and opportunities.
  • Represent the organization in legal working groups and coalitions.
  • Build and strengthen strategic partnerships to enhance collective impact.
  • Represent the organization at policy briefings, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Translate complex legal issues into accessible language for diverse audiences.
  • Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring deadlines are met and stakeholders are informed.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to and good standing with at least one state bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-JD experience in policy advocacy, preferably in state legislative advocacy related to reproductive rights or healthcare law.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience presenting legal concepts to non-lawyers.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • A strong commitment to reproductive freedom and abortion access.
