Overview
This role involves leading the employment law strategy across European jurisdictions for a fast-paced, tech-driven mobility organization. The Principal Legal Employment Counsel will shape the employee experience, ensure compliance, and influence organizational culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead employment law matters across Europe, including complex terminations, settlements, and litigation.
- Advise senior leadership and cross-functional teams on employment law risks, policies, and strategic decisions.
- Oversee relationships with external counsel to ensure high-quality, business-aligned legal advice.
- Monitor and interpret regulatory developments such as the EU Platform Workers Directive and proactively adapt internal policies.
- Provide guidance on the classification of independent contractors and freelancers.
- Manage external law firms to ensure accurate and commercially sensible legal advice.
- Communicate with authorities, courts, and other external parties to resolve employment-related legal issues.
- Manage all legal communications to ensure complete and up-to-date documentation in accordance with applicable law.
- Shape legal operations and drive innovation through the adoption of legal technology.
Requirements
- German-qualified Volljuristin/Volljurist with at least 8 years of employment law experience, ideally in international environments.
- Fluent in German and English.
- Proven ability to deliver pragmatic legal advice in fast-paced, international settings.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate complex legal issues into actionable guidance.
- Experience leading negotiations with employee representatives and managing cross-border projects.
- Highly diligent, proactive, and self-motivated with the ability to independently manage day-to-day legal functions.
