Overview
A leading global AI cloud infrastructure organization is seeking a Privacy Manager to join their Group Privacy Office within the Legal team. This role involves working closely with business and technology teams to identify privacy risks, develop solutions, and support compliance in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment.
Responsibilities
- Advise business teams (marketing, sales, IT, operations) on compliance with privacy, AI, and related laws, providing guidance for projects with regional and global scope
- Conduct vendor and third-party privacy risk assessments, focusing on cloud providers, data center partners, and managed service vendors
- Support cross-border data transfer assessments, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), Transfer Impact Assessments (TIAs), and adequacy mechanisms
- Provide clear, practical guidance balancing regulatory expectations with business realities in a multicultural environment
- Advise on data protection terms in various agreements such as license, vendor, SaaS, technology, master services, and confidentiality agreements
- Support product development by advising on privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default principles
- Draft, update, and maintain privacy documentation including DPIA templates, guidance materials, FAQs, and communication assets
- Perform privacy impact assessments, responsible AI assessments, and contribute to governance tasks and records of processing
- Advise sales and marketing teams on compliance implications of marketing initiatives including online and behavioral advertising, social networking, email, and SMS communications
- Collaborate with Information Security, Data Governance, Risk, and Audit teams to identify and mitigate data protection compliance risks
- Support privacy aspects of data breach and incident response, including regulatory notifications within EU timelines
Requirements
Professional Qualifications
- LLM, J.D., or equivalent degree with strong academic performance
- Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in privacy, data protection, or related compliance roles, preferably in technology-driven and/or international environments
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of European data protection laws and global privacy regulations (e.g., UK GDPR, Swiss FADP, CCPA)
- Expertise in US privacy legislation
- Experience interpreting regulatory guidance and drafting privacy notices, policies, and procedures
- Hands-on experience with DPIAs, Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs), vendor assessments, and data transfer mechanisms
- Experience advising corporate clients on compliance matters
- Experience negotiating and drafting contracts
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions within established guidelines and risk frameworks
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and issue-resolution capabilities
- Ability to collaborate across business levels and lead on complex, high-priority issues
- Ability to translate complex privacy and regulatory concepts into clear, business-friendly language applicable to technical environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to engage in technical discussions with IT teams on ad tech, data anonymization, and security/access controls related to cloud computing
- Cultural awareness and experience working effectively in diverse, global teams
- Understanding of cybersecurity laws such as NIS2, DORA, and CRA
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced infrastructure environment
