Overview
This role is with a financial infrastructure platform that helps businesses accept payments, grow revenue, and pursue new business opportunities.
The Product Legal team manages the legal and regulatory elements of product design, build, and execution. This position serves as a key legal advisor to product, engineering, and partnerships teams, handling matters that span financial services, business processes, and technology.
Responsibilities
- Counsel product and engineering teams on legal issues related to the organization’s software solutions, including Stripe Revenue Suite, Stripe Profiles, and Stripe Atlas.
- Collaborate cross-functionally (including engineering, partnerships, privacy, and security teams) to deliver pragmatic and actionable legal advice across the product development lifecycle, from initial scoping through launch.
- Draft, review, and update internal and external-facing foundational terms and documents for product and service offerings.
- Stay current on laws and regulations related to consumer financial data access; analyze legal and regulatory updates and industry trends to proactively advise on potential product impacts.
- Serve as a proactive business partner to the product team, building trusted relationships and providing key legal and strategic input to support evolving product roadmap and strategy.
Requirements
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience as a qualified lawyer in a top law firm or in-house legal team working with technology companies (ideally technology applicable to cloud-based API service providers) on legal and regulatory aspects of product development in the technology space.
- Proficiency in, and passion for, working with technology; ability to understand complex operational and business models and multiple product use cases quickly.
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple work streams and priorities simultaneously and efficiently.
- Ownership mindset; handles ambiguity well, with excellent judgment and the ability to make decisions with limited information.
- Strong communication and relational skills; ability to work cross-functionally with urgency while remaining highly collaborative.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills; able to stay on top of shifting priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Background in technology law.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strategic thinking to enable business partners to make decisions grounded in practical application of the law, technology, and business goals.

Compensation & Benefits
- Annual US base salary range: $178,200 - $267,200.
- Note: Applicants interested in this role who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Location
Remote work is available. A remote location is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of the organization’s offices.
