Overview

A financial infrastructure platform serving millions of companies worldwide is seeking a Product Lawyer to join their Product Legal team. This team manages the legal and regulatory aspects of product design, development, and execution. The role involves advising product, engineering, and partnerships teams on complex issues at the intersection of financial services, business processes, and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel to product and engineering teams on software solutions including revenue management, user profiles, and business incorporation services.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as engineering, partnerships, privacy, and security to deliver practical legal advice throughout the product development lifecycle, from initial scoping to launch.
  • Draft, review, and update foundational internal and external documents and terms related to products and services.
  • Monitor and analyze laws, regulations, and industry trends related to consumer financial data access, advising clients proactively on potential product impacts.
  • Act as a proactive business partner and trusted advisor, offering legal and strategic input to influence product roadmap and business strategy.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience as a qualified lawyer, either in a top law firm or in-house legal team, working with technology companies on legal and regulatory aspects of product development, preferably involving cloud-based API service providers.
  • Strong proficiency and enthusiasm for technology, with the ability to quickly understand complex operational and business models and multiple product use cases.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ownership mentality with excellent judgment and decision-making skills, especially when information is limited.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working cross-functionally with urgency while maintaining collaboration.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills to handle shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Background in technology law with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strategic thinker who can help business partners make decisions grounded in practical application of law, technology, and business goals.
