Overview

This role involves partnering with technology and product teams to identify, evaluate, and manage title insurance risk. The position bridges legal, underwriting, and product development by translating title insurance, real estate, technology, automation, and AI-assisted workflow concepts into actionable guidance that informs product strategy, underwriting protocols, and product evolution.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, communicate, and manage title insurance risk associated with a technology feature, product, or product line.
  • Execute underwriting vision and strategy for a technology feature, product, or product line.
  • Participate in planning meetings and product strategy discussions.
  • Assess market competition by building knowledge of competitor products to identify gaps, competitive threats, and competitive advantages.
  • Provide underwriting, title insurance, and real estate conveyancing subject matter expertise to product managers, designers, researchers, and engineers.
  • Translate complex title insurance and real estate concepts into clear ideas for product team members that influence product strategy.
  • Translate complex technology product concepts into clear ideas for transaction underwriters that influence transaction underwriting protocol.
  • Execute tasks and assignments on the product roadmap.
  • Provide input to the product development team for product evolution and priorities.

Requirements

  • Law degree required.
  • Admitted to law practice in manner appropriate for the position and location.
  • At least three years of direct title insurance underwriting, title counsel, or real estate conveyancing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply underwriting judgment in technology, product, automation, or AI-enabled environments.
  • Strong verbal and visual communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of land titles, real estate law, and the conveyancing process.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state laws related to title insurance and settlement services.
  • Some technical aptitude (e.g., novice-level understanding of at least one software engineering language).
  • Business acumen and strategic agility that influences outcomes and successfully negotiates for resources.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $97,700.00 - $130,300.00 Annually
  • Base pay estimation is based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements, and geographic location.
