Overview
An organization is seeking an experienced Procurement Lawyer to support clients on complex public procurement matters. This role involves advising clients directly, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, and standardizing procurement terms and policies. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of public procurement experience, be based in Ontario, and demonstrate strong negotiation skills with opposing counsel.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct legal advice to corporate clients on procurement issues and assist in mitigating legal risks
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of complex commercial agreements
- Standardize contractual terms, policies, and protocols related to procurement
- Manage discussions with key stakeholders involved in purchasing functions
Requirements
- Based in Ontario with active membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in public procurement
- Experience supporting procurement activities including direct and indirect procurement, IT procurement, supplier relationship management, supplier onboarding, and contractual dispute resolution
- Proven experience negotiating contract terms and conditions directly with opposing counsel
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated total compensation for full-time attorney roles ranges from $114,000 to $250,000 per year
- Compensation is determined based on factors such as experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs
