Overview
This role involves contributing to the development and quality assurance of a leading legal AI platform used by hundreds of in-house legal teams. The position focuses on ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and practical utility of AI-generated legal outputs by applying legal expertise to design evaluations, validate results, and guide product improvements.
Responsibilities
- Design and conduct rigorous evaluations to measure the quality of AI-generated legal outputs, ensuring they meet high professional standards.
- Review and validate product outputs for accuracy, relevance, comprehensiveness, and helpfulness.
- Collaborate with engineering and go-to-market teams to identify performance gaps, diagnose issues, and develop solutions.
- Advocate for precision, consistency, and clarity in AI outputs as the legal voice of quality.
- Translate complex legal concepts into clear product requirements and communicate product concepts back into legal terms.
- Provide domain-specific legal expertise to guide feature development and product roadmap decisions.
- Ideate new products based on a deep understanding of legal teams' challenges and needs.
Requirements
- Law degree and active license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, including significant in-house legal experience.
- Substantive expertise in one or more areas of in-house legal work such as corporate-commercial law, transactional law, contract drafting and negotiation, product or regulatory counseling, privacy, compliance, employment, fintech, or litigation.
- Experience using generative AI for legal work and evaluating AI-generated outputs.
- Strong analytical skills, including designing metrics, interpreting evaluation results, and converting legal reasoning into logical, repeatable processes.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Product, and Go-To-Market teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior use of the legal AI platform.
- Enthusiasm for legal technology, especially prompt engineering and quality assurance.
- Focus on user experience, particularly how legal professionals interact with and trust AI assistants.
- Experience working closely with software engineers.
- Ability to design and interpret evaluation metrics and abstract legal reasoning into repeatable steps.

Compensation ranges:
- United States: $150,000 - $240,000 USD
- Canada: CAD $165,000 - CAD $260,000
Final compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and market conditions. Exceptional performers may receive rapid compensation adjustments aligned with their impact.
Location
This is a remote role open to candidates based in the United States or Canada. Candidates living within approximately 50 miles of the San Mateo, CA or Provo, UT offices will follow a hybrid schedule with in-office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
