Overview
This role involves providing underwriting support and guidance on real estate closings and title insurance matters. The position requires evaluating the organization's willingness and ability to insure real estate transactions, establishing and maintaining customer relationships, supporting business development efforts, delivering educational presentations, and assisting with audits as needed. This is a remote position with occasional travel.
Responsibilities
- Provide underwriting support, answers, and guidance to customers and internal departments regarding real estate closings and title insurance.
- Determine the organization's willingness and ability to insure real estate transactions.
- Establish relationships with new customers and maintain and grow relationships with existing customers.
- Support business development efforts, including attending customer visits and networking events.
- Create and deliver relevant educational topics through live seminars and webinars.
- Assist with audits as required.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA-approved law school.
- Licensed attorney in good standing in the state where the position is based.
- Reside in or near the state where the position is located.
- 3 to 10 years of experience in title insurance or real estate.
- Knowledge of title insurance rates and rules applicable to the state of employment.
- Ability to discuss and respond in writing to proposed requests for coverage, assess potential risks, and suggest appropriate language in title commitments, policies, and endorsements to protect the organization's interests.
- Capability to prepare and deliver live, web-based, or recorded educational presentations for customers.
- Ability to support the development of new customers.
- Willingness to work remotely and travel occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing underwriting support in multiple jurisdictions is a plus.
