Overview
A global software company specializing in voice, messaging, and emergency services is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to join their Global Regulatory Team based in London. This role involves ensuring legal and regulatory compliance across assigned countries and topics, providing legal and regulatory advice related to products and operational processes, and supporting various business units.
Responsibilities
Regulatory and Compliance
- Maintain regulatory conditions for assigned countries and topics.
- Analyze regulatory frameworks and monitor legal changes affecting products and operations.
- Advise on regulatory compliance strategies and risks.
- Research and draft regulatory documentation clearly and accurately.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Product, Carrier Relations, Engineering, and Operations on regulatory matters.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries related to assigned coverage.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and industry groups.
- Review and negotiate supplier agreements supporting services in assigned countries.
- Participate in public consultations, draft position papers, and coordinate with the Global Policy team.
- Support Regulatory Operations, Compliance Operations, and other operational teams.
Projects and Go-To-Market
- Provide timely and comprehensive regulatory support for projects and go-to-market initiatives globally.
Documentation and Administrative
- Maintain up-to-date regulatory documentation and archives.
- Ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings.
- Manage external counsel to ensure appropriate expertise and support.
Other
- Some travel may be required to collaborate with internal and external parties across regions.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Law.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the electronic communications market, preferably in regulatory roles either in-house or in law practice.
- Knowledge of voice, messaging, and numbering regulatory frameworks is a strong plus.
Technical Knowledge
- Working knowledge of voice over IP technologies and cloud communications.
- Strong interest in communications and new technologies.
- High level of IT literacy.
- Interest in leveraging AI tools in daily work.
Skills
- Fluent in legal and business English; proficiency in another European language is a strong advantage.
- Ability to quickly understand and explain complex regulatory and technology issues.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Self-driven and eager to learn.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of clear and concise writing and speaking.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
