Overview
A growing marketplace platform is seeking a Regulatory & Product Counsel to navigate an increasingly complex legal landscape. This hybrid role involves approximately 50% regulatory and compliance work and 50% generalist in-house counsel support. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate evolving legal requirements into practical, business-ready solutions. The counsel will act as a frontline legal partner, embedded with teams and advising in real time, solving problems as they arise and managing risk.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze laws impacting the platform, including FCRA, TCPA, Fair Housing, consumer protection, FTC/marketing, and data privacy.
- Identify risks and provide clear, decision-ready legal guidance.
- Partner with Product, Marketing, and Operations teams to support real-time decision-making.
- Translate legal requirements into actionable recommendations.
- Support and improve compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct audits of federal and state regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate initial investigations and fact-gathering with customer support.
- Assist with responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, or enforcement matters.
- Handle day-to-day legal questions related to host matters, customer experience escalations, zoning, code enforcement, and general business issues.
- Serve as the first point of contact for legal and compliance questions, triaging and responding in real time.
- Manage a high volume of legal intake requests and escalate higher-risk issues as needed.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with an active bar license (TX, FL, or GA preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience.
- Familiarity with FCRA, Fair Housing, TCPA, consumer protection, FTC/marketing, and data privacy laws.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Ability to apply nuanced judgment to complex legal scenarios and practical risk assessments.
- Experience translating legal requirements into business-friendly guidance.
- Proven ability to partner effectively with Product, Marketing, or Operations teams.
- Experience managing high-volume legal intake and prioritizing effectively.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.
- Clear and concise communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Availability to work East Coast hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) certification is a plus.

This is a fully remote position. Although the job posting may indicate Atlanta, Georgia, the role is not location-restricted.
