Overview

A partner company is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide critical legal support for their rapidly growing utility-scale energy storage business within the renewable energy sector. This remote role involves managing complex project contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to key projects that advance sustainable energy initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on construction, corporate, and commercial law matters supporting the energy storage business unit in the United States
  • Negotiate and draft various contracts including EPC agreements, equipment supply agreements, subcontractor agreements, long-term services agreements, operation and maintenance agreements, product warranties, and performance guarantees
  • Assist with project management and execution by drafting legal notices, change orders, interpreting contract language, and offering strategic, business-oriented legal advice
  • Manage litigation and dispute resolution as necessary
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders such as customers, vendors, EPCs, and utilities
  • Coordinate and supervise outside counsel while balancing legal costs with business objectives

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in the United States with strong academic credentials
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction and infrastructure contracts at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal department
  • Experience in the energy industry, preferably renewable energy and/or energy storage
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. renewable energy incentives (IRA tax credits) and compliance regulations (OBBBA)
  • Familiarity with anti-dumping/countervailing duties (AD/CVD), tariffs, OFAC, CFIUS, UFLPA, and other trade-related and regulatory matters
  • Proven ability and willingness to lead negotiations of complex commercial contracts
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 5–15% of the time

Location

  • Remote position based in the United States with occasional travel as required (5–15%)
