Overview
A multi-state law firm specializing in legal services for financial institutions and commercial clients is seeking a Litigation Attorney to practice in Washington. The position is primarily based in the Seattle area with remote work options available. The firm focuses on real estate, title, mortgages, foreclosure, evictions, and creditor’s rights litigation.
Responsibilities
- Manage litigation and eviction cases from inception through trial.
- Handle pre-litigation matters and clear title to real property.
- Develop and obtain approval for budgets and legal strategies.
- Research and prepare legal analyses on claims, risks, exposures, and strategies.
- Draft and argue pleadings and motions.
- Conduct all aspects of discovery.
- Collaborate with supervising partners and clients to develop and implement case strategies.
- Communicate directly with clients.
- Attend court hearings, mediations, settlement conferences via phone, video, or in person as required.
- Assist with bankruptcy motions, hearings, and adversary proceedings as needed.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in Washington State with maintenance of all licensing and MCLE requirements.
- Additional licenses in Oregon or Idaho are a plus but not required.
- Preferred five years of litigation experience; candidates with strong interest in real estate or mortgage law will be considered.
- Knowledge of foreclosure, real estate, secured transactions, evictions, and creditor’s rights preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet research.
- Ability to meet an annual hourly billing requirement of 1920 hours.
- Residency in Washington or other states within the firm’s footprint.
- Availability and willingness to attend in-person hearings in Washington as needed.
