Overview
This role supports the legal function with a focus on commercial contracting. You will primarily partner with the sales team to negotiate and close deals at pace with acceptable risk, while also supporting other teams in engaging with outside vendors. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will have the opportunity to broaden expertise across corporate legal functions.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including customer-facing agreements and vendor contracts.
- Document learnings to build a long-term knowledge management system.
- Participate in or manage contracting efficiency initiatives, including self-serve options for sales and other business groups.
- Support legal needs in other areas as required, including compliance, customer success, and employment matters.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience independently drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
- Excellent legal writing skills, with the judgment to communicate complex terms clearly and concisely.
- Sound judgment operating in ambiguity; comfortable making calls without clear precedent.
- Demonstrated ability to work and make decisions autonomously within parameters set in partnership with leadership.
- Strong ability to prioritize and focus effort on the highest-impact work across a demanding caseload.
- Confidence to ask questions and seek input, balanced with self-awareness and the ability to push your own limits.
- Proven business acumen and commercial judgment.
- Track record of building trusted relationships cross-functionally and directly with customers.
- Intellectual curiosity and problem-solving mindset.
- Comfortable operating with urgency and pace in a fast-moving environment.
- Team-oriented mindset; willing to pitch in wherever needed.
- Fluency with AI tools (e.g., Claude) to drive efficiency in contract drafting, review, and knowledge management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly with a sales team.
- SaaS background.
- Working knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $155,000 - $180,000 per year (base only), plus a variable component.
- The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The actual offer may vary depending on factors including job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, education/certification, and interview assessment.
