Overview
A leading entertainment technology company is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel based in Singapore to provide comprehensive legal support across multiple markets in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This role involves leadership responsibilities within the APAC legal team and covers a broad range of legal matters related to channel sales, digital distribution, business operations, consumer law, and regulatory compliance for console and digital subscription services.
Responsibilities
- Provide transactional support and general legal counseling to various business functions in APAC.
- Act as a strategic partner to business, operational, and functional teams.
- Advise and support business teams to manage risk and promote growth in the APAC region.
- Offer legal advice on corporate and commercial activities across multiple countries, including sales, distribution, marketing, advertising, consumer issues, vendor engagement, and regulatory matters.
- Review, draft, and negotiate business agreements and legal documents supporting all lines of business, including procurement and new initiatives.
- Manage and respond to inquiries or investigations by regulators or law enforcement agencies, coordinating with internal teams and external counsel as needed.
- Collaborate closely with senior legal leadership on regional strategy and direction.
- Provide legal input to global teams on product launches, marketing materials, packaging, and other initiatives related to digital platforms.
- Advise on policy and regulatory matters.
- Lead and manage members of the APAC legal team.
- Oversee outside counsel and manage the legal budget.
- Lead global and regional projects as required.
Requirements
- Law degree with a license to practice law in Singapore, England, or another common law jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 12 years of legal experience in-house, at a top-tier law firm, or a combination of both.
- Familiarity with consumer, product, and advertising laws in one or more APAC countries.
- Experience supporting sales and marketing organizations in APAC, preferably in consumer electronics sales (both physical and digital) and hardware distribution.
- Self-motivated, reliable, disciplined, and proactive with strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proven leadership and people management experience.
- Strong attention to detail with precision and accuracy.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills in English.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage projects across multiple geographies and subject matters.
- Creative and effective negotiation skills balancing legal constraints with business objectives.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize and drive initiatives to resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience combining in-house and law firm practice within APAC.
- Multilingual abilities relevant to the APAC region.
- Experience working closely with senior business management.
- Comfortable working in a highly matrixed and distributed team environment across multiple time zones and cultures.
