Overview

A leading global blockchain ecosystem behind the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume and registered users is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its global Corporate Legal Affairs team. The role involves delivering complex strategic projects, managing corporate transactions, governance, reorganizations, intra-group arrangements, board secretarial duties, and entity management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement group legal strategy aligned with the organization’s general business strategy.
  • Provide proactive, in-depth, business-focused legal advice and execution.
  • Manage legal responses to corporate and broader matters encountered by the organization and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead external communications on legal matters, including negotiations with external parties.
  • Advise and support a wide variety of transactional, reorganization, and corporate governance initiatives.
  • Assist in transactional activities such as M&A, majority and minority investments, joint ventures, and global restructurings.
  • Draft and review legal documents, providing holistic risk assessments and suggestions to enhance business value while mitigating risks.
  • Partner with cross-functional and regional teams to support legal matters of varying complexity and sensitivity.
  • Provide training and counsel to non-legal colleagues to promote legal awareness and risk management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current laws and anticipate legal framework developments.
  • Align and promote consistency of legal approaches across internal stakeholders.
  • Take prudent risks within the business context and advise on solutions to address identified issues.

Requirements

  • Qualified to practice law in a leading jurisdiction with significant corporate legal experience.
  • Typically 8+ years of post-qualification experience, preferably at a top law firm and/or in-house at a well-established corporate or high-growth company.
  • Ideally trained in a reputable law firm with a focus on corporate transactional work and general corporate governance.
  • Proven expertise managing complex projects across multiple jurisdictions globally.
  • Strong legal technical expertise combined with exceptional business acumen and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced in-house environment.
  • Strong team player with good business sense.
  • Ability to independently manage complex projects while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Creative problem-solving skills to meet evolving business needs.
  • Excellent legal drafting, interpretation, analytical, and organizational skills.
