Overview
The organization is seeking a Senior Counsel to join the Business Legal team. This role focuses on negotiating and structuring commercial agreements that support strategic partnerships. Work will partner closely with business development, sales, product, engineering, finance/tax, and compliance to close complex transactions, including first-of-their-kind deal structures.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate and structure highly tailored commercial agreements with strategic partners and sophisticated counterparties in the fintech and technology space, including first-of-their-kind deal structures.
- Develop novel agreement frameworks for product partnerships and provide practical, risk-balanced legal guidance that enables business flexibility while protecting the organization’s interests.
- Partner cross-functionally with Business Development, Sales, Product, Engineering, Finance/Tax, and Compliance to solve problems, build partnerships, and close complex deals on accelerated timelines.
- Build commercial playbooks, templates, and scaled strategies to reduce deal cycle times and help the business move faster on recurring transaction types.
- Advise business leaders on transactional and product roadmap implications; proactively identify legal risks and structure solutions aligned with commercial objectives.
Requirements
- J.D. (or applicable equivalent) with 7+ years of relevant transactional experience in-house or at a leading law firm.
- Active licensure in a U.S. state.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating and structuring complex fintech commercial agreements, with a track record of closing high-stakes deals with sophisticated counterparties.
- Proven ability to independently own deal execution end-to-end, from term sheet through closing, across multiple concurrent transactions with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Track record of building scalable legal processes (playbooks, templates, deal frameworks) that accelerate deal velocity and reduce legal bottlenecks.
- Uses generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus): $224,995 — $264,700 USD
- Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
- Base salary varies by location.
