Overview

This role is for a senior attorney with substantial insurance defense and trial advocacy experience. The organization seeks an accomplished litigator who can lead high-exposure matters, manage complex casework independently, and provide direction to less experienced attorneys.

Active California bar license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop compelling case themes aimed at minimizing sympathy/anger arguments.
  • Handle court appearances, depositions, briefs, and trials independently.
  • Manage full case handling responsibilities, including all facets of discovery and trial preparation.
  • Lead and provide direction to less experienced attorneys.
  • Collaborate with attorneys at all experience levels as part of a team.
  • Communicate routinely with clients.
  • Cultivate relationships with current and prospective clients.

Requirements

  • JD from an ABA approved school.
  • Must be licensed in your state (active bar license in the State of California is required).
  • 8+ years of solid litigation experience, specifically with litigation support, deposition, and trial preparation.
  • Strong ability to think and act independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Experience with time management systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience handling insurance defense matters.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $160,000–$190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Annual billable hours bonus: $10,000, then aggregating with $7,500 for every additional tier.

  • 401(k): 100% match on the first 3% contributed and 50% match on the following 4–5%.
