Overview
This role serves as Senior Counsel, Commercial, partnering with the payer contracting team to negotiate high-impact partnerships with health plans. The position also involves building the legal systems and processes that enable effective collaboration between Legal and Payer teams.
Responsibilities
- Own payer contracting strategy by aligning business interests with legal terms and applicable regulations
- Build scalable systems and processes to efficiently land high-value payer contracts
- Review, draft, and negotiate terms of health plan agreements
- Partner with outside counsel to develop approaches that unlock value and mitigate risk
- Build relationships and consensus across teams with competing views and priorities
Requirements
- 5+ years of post-bar admittance legal experience
- Deep understanding of healthcare contracting between payers and providers
- Meaningful in-house experience in a fast-paced, high-growth start-up environment
- Ability to build relationships and consensus with colleagues amid competing views and priorities
- Builder’s mindset, energized by improving operational structure
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership in good standing (including ability to register as NY in-house counsel)
Compensation & Benefits
- Expected base pay range: $179,200 - $280,000 (based on qualifications, experience, and geographic location)
- This role may be eligible for an equity grant, depending on position and level
