Overview

This role serves as Legal counsel for the payer contracting function, partnering with business teams to negotiate high-impact partnerships with health plans. Responsibilities include owning payer contracting strategy, reviewing and negotiating health plan agreement terms, and building scalable systems and processes to support effective collaboration between Legal and Payer teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own payer contracting strategy, aligning business interests with legal terms and applicable regulations
  • Build for scale by implementing systems that support efficient contracting for high-value payer agreements
  • Review and negotiate the terms of health plan agreements
  • Partner with outside counsel on approaches that unlock value and mitigate risk
  • Build out systems and processes that enable the Legal and Payer teams to partner effectively

Requirements

  • 5+ years of post-bar admittance legal experience with deep understanding of healthcare contracting between payers and providers
  • Meaningful in-house experience in a fast-paced, fast-growing start-up environment
  • Ability to build relationships and reach consensus across colleagues with competing views and priorities
  • Builder’s mindset, with energy for enhancing operational structure
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in good standing required, including ability to register as NY in-house counsel

Compensation & Benefits

  • Expected base pay range: $179,200 - $280,000, based on factors including qualifications, experience, and geographic location
  • May be eligible for an equity grant, depending on position and level
