Overview
A partner organization is seeking a Senior Counsel (Employment Products) based in the United Kingdom to provide strategic legal guidance for a technology-driven global workforce platform. This role involves shaping the future of global employment by supporting scalable and compliant employment solutions across multiple countries and legal environments.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain employment templates, policies, processes, and legal frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
- Monitor global employment legislation and regulatory developments, assess business impact, and lead implementation of necessary updates.
- Provide strategic legal advice throughout the employee lifecycle, including hiring, compensation, leave, performance management, employee relations, and terminations.
- Collaborate with Product, People, and cross-functional teams to design employment solutions balancing legal, operational, and business needs.
- Support development and expansion of employment products ensuring legal soundness and scalability.
- Research complex employment law matters and translate legal analysis into practical recommendations for business and non-legal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain legal guidance, knowledge resources, compliance documentation, and operational materials for global teams.
- Manage relationships with external legal advisors and support labor inspections, audits, regulatory inquiries, and compliance initiatives.
- Identify risks and improvement opportunities by analyzing data, stakeholder feedback, and operational insights to strengthen compliance frameworks.
- Utilize AI, automation, and technology solutions to improve legal workflows and increase scalability.
- Contribute to a collaborative, remote-first legal team culture focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
Requirements
- Law degree or equivalent qualification with admission to practice law in one or more jurisdictions.
- Minimum 4 years of experience practicing employment law, ideally combining law firm and in-house experience.
- Strong expertise in employment law, including drafting and reviewing employment agreements, managing policies and templates, and advising on complex matters.
- Experience handling multi-jurisdictional and cross-border employment issues across diverse legal and regulatory environments.
- Understanding of Employer of Record (EOR) models and related legal considerations; prior experience preferred.
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and communicate clear, practical, business-focused recommendations to non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong research, analytical, organizational, and communication skills with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global environment.
- Business-oriented mindset balancing compliance with operational effectiveness and creative problem-solving.
- Comfortable using technology, AI tools, and automation to improve efficiency and legal processes.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
