Overview

This role is for a senior litigation attorney to support the organization’s insurance defense and trial advocacy work as it continues nationwide growth. The position involves high-exposure matters, courtroom work, and leadership across all stages of civil litigation.

Please note: An active bar license in the State of Texas is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a case theme that is more compelling than any plaintiff strategy for sympathy or anger
  • Independently handle court appearances, depositions, briefs and trials
  • Manage full case handling responsibilities, including all facets of discovery and trial
  • Work as part of a team with all levels of experience
  • Conduct routine communications with clients
  • Cultivate relationships with the firm’s existing and future clients
  • Provide leadership and direction with respect to less experienced attorneys
  • Refuse to accept mediocrity, the average, the standard or the norm in anything

Requirements

  • JD from an ABA approved school
  • Must be licensed in your state
  • 8+ years of solid litigation experience, specifically with litigation support, deposition and trial preparation
  • Significant civil litigation and trial experience (first- or second-chair experience strongly preferred)
  • Experience handling insurance defense matters (excess insurance space/commercial litigation experience preferred)
  • Experience with time management systems
  • Skilled in taking and defending expert depositions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior attorneys and staff
  • Proficiency in MS Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to think and act independently and with minimal supervision
  • Outstanding listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Spanish-speaking ability is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excess insurance space/commercial litigation experience
  • First- or second-chair experience

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $150,000—$200,000 USD

  • Base salary: $150,000-$200,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Annual billable hours bonus: ranging from $10,000 and then aggregating with $7,500 for every additional tier
