Overview

A strategic Labor & Employment Attorney is sought to provide trusted legal counsel to HR and business leadership on a wide range of U.S. labor and employment issues. This role involves shaping strategy and ensuring compliance with laws related to anti-discrimination, harassment, wage and hour/pay practices, leaves of absence, reductions in force, and workplace policies. The attorney will also support labor relations and oversee or manage employment litigation, agency matters, mediations, and arbitrations.

This position is eligible for remote work for candidates residing in Cleveland, Ohio, or Columbus, Ohio, with up to 10% annual travel to Evendale, Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day legal counsel and proactive advice on employment laws and regulations, including anti-discrimination/harassment, pay practices, leave and accommodation, and reductions in force.
  • Support labor relations strategies, including collective bargaining obligations, contract interpretation, unfair labor practice defense, and arbitration resolution.
  • Develop and deliver preventative law training and practical guidance to drive compliance and enhance manager confidence.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements and develop clear, scalable policies and procedures.
  • Represent the organization or manage outside counsel in employment litigation, mediations, arbitrations, and agency proceedings.
  • Advise on or conduct internal investigations with rigor, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for investigations, threat response calls, wage and hour updates, and Talent Acquisition-related matters.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 5 years of licensed practice advising management on U.S. labor and employment law, either in-house or on the management side at a law firm.
  • Experience in traditional labor law, including collective bargaining, National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), grievance, and arbitration.
  • Membership in good standing of a relevant state bar with a history of ethical practice and no disciplinary actions or formal reprimands.

  • Self-starter who proactively identifies issues and drives them to resolution.
  • High attention to detail in all work products.
  • Experience representing public companies and familiarity with the aerospace industry preferred.
  • Reputation for ethical conduct, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Experience with global operations, federal government contracting compliance, corporate M&A transactions, and wage and hour compliance is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Personal qualities including humility, transparency, focus, leadership, and analytical problem-solving.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $155,000 to $257,000 annually, dependent on experience, education, and work location.
  • Eligibility for performance bonus or variable incentive plan.

Location
