Overview

A leading organization in the healthcare sector is seeking a Senior Counsel specializing in Litigation and Employment law. This role involves supporting high-impact legal work that directly influences business performance and team success. The position requires collaboration across various functions to advance priorities, solve complex legal challenges, and deliver measurable outcomes. It offers the opportunity to shape both strategic direction and day-to-day legal execution within a fast-paced environment.

Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only; no visa sponsorship available)

Compensation: $215,000 – $235,000 annually

Responsibilities

  • Manage the organization’s litigation and pre-litigation docket independently
  • Direct outside counsel strategy, including managing discovery and trial readiness
  • Conduct internal investigations related to litigation matters
  • Oversee document preservation and e-discovery processes
  • Collaborate with operations teams to identify and mitigate liability risks
  • Provide training on litigation prevention and compliance to staff
  • Act as the primary legal advisor to the People & Culture team on employee relations issues

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. state
  • Minimum of 7 years of legal experience in litigation and employment law, with required healthcare liability experience
  • Proven experience managing outside counsel, including strategy, budgeting, and performance evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability to advise on employee relations and conduct workplace investigations
  • Strong judgment in risk assessment and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively explain legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • In-house legal experience within healthcare
  • Drafting employment policies and handbooks
  • Legal risk management strategies, including compliance monitoring tools
  • Familiarity with e-discovery platforms and document management systems
  • Experience developing training and compliance programs
  • Use of data analytics tools for tracking legal trends
  • Understanding of cross-jurisdictional regulatory issues
  • Proficiency with HR software tools for managing employee relations
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution frameworks
