Overview
This role provides a full range of legal advice and services across matters of moderate to substantial complexity. The Senior Counsel may function as a legal generalist or provide counsel across a combination of disciplines, advising executives on the development of functional strategies (often segment-specific) for matters of significance. Work is performed with independent judgment and decision-making on complex issues, typically under minimal supervision.
The position focuses on supporting senior-focused primary care operations and merger & acquisition activity.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance on the application of fraud, waste, and abuse laws, including the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Stark Law, and the Beneficiary Inducement Statute as applied to CenterWell Primary Care delivery and operations.
- Assist with health care regulatory diligence for potential merger & acquisition activity.
- Coordinate and address legal issues during post-closing integration.
- Collaborate and consult with leaders across the organization to support full compliance with applicable laws and regulations and to help protect against external risk.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited school law school
- 5 - 10 years of relevant experience
- Active membership in a state bar association
- Strong legal writing and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently under general supervision and in team settings
- Passion for contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
- Experience in Medicare, Medicaid, or similar regulatory work
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage
- Demonstrated knowledge of health care provider operations
- Merger & acquisition experience
- Familiarity with Medicare risk adjustment as well as related billing and coding requirements
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $168,000 - $231,000 per year (starting base pay estimate for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting; range may be higher or lower based on geographic location)
- Eligible for a bonus incentive plan, based on company and/or individual performance

Remote position with work-from-home requirements:

Travel:
- Occasional travel to the employer’s offices for training or meetings may be required
