Overview

A healthcare technology organization is seeking a Senior Counsel, Product to serve as a key strategic partner to the Research & Development teams during a pivotal growth phase. This role focuses on providing legal guidance related to AI, data usage, and health laws impacting innovative technology products in mental healthcare. The position involves close collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to support the development and deployment of healthcare technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an embedded regulatory advisor to Engineering, Product, and Operations groups, offering real-time guidance on healthcare delivery technology, AI, and clinical modalities.
  • Translate complex laws and regulations related to AI, data use, and healthcare into practical, actionable guidance for non-legal teams. Relevant regulations include TCPA, COPPA, CAN-SPAM, NIST AI RMF and Generative AI Profile, FDA Software as a Medical Device, FTC Advertising and Marketing, and Health Claims marketing guidance.
  • Anticipate regulatory challenges and proactively develop solutions that align with business objectives while mitigating risk.
  • Build strong cross-team relationships to position legal guidance as a business enabler rather than an obstacle.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of post-bar admission legal experience with significant expertise in healthcare regulatory law, particularly in health technology and product counseling.
  • Deep understanding of multi-state healthcare regulations within evolving regulatory environments.
  • Experience advising Engineering, Product, and/or Operations teams in a healthcare technology setting.
  • Proven ability to translate complex healthcare regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated skill in balancing business risk appetite with organizational objectives in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong communication skills and political savvy to navigate competing priorities and build effective partnerships.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
  • Ability to register as New York in-house counsel is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with AI and data privacy regulations in healthcare technology.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations concerning Software as a Medical Device.
