Overview

A Senior Counsel specializing in Regulatory Law is needed to provide strategic legal guidance within a large U.S. consumer health portfolio. This full-time, onsite position is located in Summit, New Jersey. The role requires a business-oriented attorney with strong regulatory expertise to translate complex legal and compliance requirements into practical, actionable counsel.

Responsibilities

Regulatory & Product Lifecycle Support

  • Provide legal guidance on laws, regulations, industry standards, and internal policies related to OTC drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, and dietary supplements.
  • Support product innovation, development, labeling, regulatory submissions, and interactions with regulatory authorities.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate regulatory and legal risks throughout the product lifecycle.

Advertising, Marketing & Competitive Matters

  • Review and advise on advertising, promotional materials, claims, and substantiation.
  • Support digital, social media, and influencer marketing initiatives.
  • Initiate, manage, and defend advertising challenges and competitive disputes.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with Marketing, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and other teams to advance business objectives.
  • Partner with colleagues across Legal & Compliance to align on strategic matters.

Training & External Engagement

  • Develop and deliver training on advertising and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory and legislative changes, advising the business on emerging risks and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in regulatory law within consumer health, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or cosmetics.
  • Mandatory experience with OTC drugs.
  • Strong knowledge of advertising and promotional law, regulatory compliance, and product stewardship.
  • Proven ability to provide practical, clear legal guidance in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
