Overview
This role is for a Senior Counsel position in Fresno, CA. The employer is seeking an experienced insurance defense/civil litigation attorney to handle complex, high-exposure matters, working with a collaborative team on general liability, construction defect, toxic tort, and class action matters.
Active California Bar License Required.
Responsibilities
- Independently handle court appearances, depositions, briefs, and trials
- Manage full case handling responsibilities, including all facets of discovery and trial
- Develop persuasive case themes
- Work as part of a team across all experience levels
- Communicate routinely with clients
- Cultivate relationships with current and future clients
- Provide leadership and direction to less experienced attorneys
- Manage cases strategically while maintaining strong advocacy and writing standards
Requirements
- JD from an ABA approved school
- Active California Bar License
- 8+ years of solid litigation experience, specifically with litigation support, deposition, and trial preparation
- Experience handling insurance defense matters preferred
- Ability to manage full case handling responsibilities, including all facets of discovery and trial
- Experience using time management systems
- Proficiency in MS Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to think and act independently with minimal supervision
- Outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling insurance defense matters
- Experience with general liability matters including construction defect, toxic tort, or other complex cases
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $160,000–$190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
- Annual billable hours bonus: $10,000, then aggregating with $7,500 for every additional tier
