Overview
An experienced Florida defense attorney is needed to join a busy litigation team handling sophisticated, high-exposure matters throughout Central Florida. This role is focused on meaningful case ownership and close collaboration with hands-on trial attorneys.
Please note: An active Florida Bar license is required for this position.
Responsibilities
- Independently handle court appearances, depositions, briefs, and trials
- Develop persuasive case themes and strategy for defense matters
- Manage full case handling responsibilities, including all facets of discovery and trial preparation
- Perform substantive motion practice and discovery work
- Collaborate with attorneys across experience levels as part of a team
- Provide leadership and direction to less experienced attorneys
- Communicate routinely with clients
- Cultivate relationships with existing and future clients

- Trucking and motor vehicle matters
- Premises liability
- Surgical and medical-related cases
- Other complex liability matters
Requirements
- JD from an ABA approved school
- Must be licensed in your state
- 8+ years of solid litigation experience, specifically with litigation support, deposition, and trial preparation
- Ability to manage full case handling responsibilities, including all facets of discovery and trial
- Proficiency in MS Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to think and act independently with minimal supervision
- Outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Experience with time management systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling insurance defense matters
- Trial experience is highly valued; however, significant courtroom opportunities are not required if there is a strong interest in developing them
- Demonstrated record of exceptional legal research and writing (Law Review or similar)
- Insurance defense experience preferred
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $150,000–$190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
- Annual billable hours bonus: $10,000, then aggregating with $7,500 for every additional tier
