Overview

A Senior Counsel position is available to manage legal issues affecting a Life Science/Pharma business unit within a large diversified organization. The role involves minimizing legal risks and protecting the company's rights through independent and collaborative work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day legal affairs for Life Sciences/Pharma companies under general supervision of Division General Counsel and in coordination with other legal teams.
  • Advise management on legal and regulatory risks, including FDA regulations and other industry-specific frameworks.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts such as customer, distributor, vendor agreements, NDAs, development, manufacturing, service, and quality agreements.
  • Collaborate regularly with outside counsel to review and handle a large volume of contracts ensuring alignment with management and corporate objectives.
  • Lead initiatives to improve contracting and legal support processes, including development of templates and contract management systems.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and support for corporate matters and pre-litigation/litigation to minimize risks and maximize legal rights.
  • Participate in structuring new business ventures and corporate transactions.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting the business and subsidiaries.
  • Deliver training on substantive legal topics, including regulations specific to CDMO, Life Science/Pharma, and Medical Device sectors.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; academic honors preferred.
  • Admission to at least one state bar in good standing.
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience in a corporate law firm and/or in-house legal department, preferably within Life Science/Pharma, Medical Device, or healthcare fields.
  • Strong commercial contract background with extensive drafting experience.
  • Experience managing outside counsel and/or legal staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of FDA and related regulations applicable to CDMO, Life Science/Pharma, and Medical Device industries.
  • Proficient contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Competent with computer applications relevant to legal work.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $185,000 - $200,000, depending on experience.
