Overview
A legal and compliance department within a fast-paced tech and real estate organization is seeking a Product Attorney to provide legal support for its StreetEasy and New Construction business lines. StreetEasy is a leading New York City real estate portal, while the New Construction business offers advertising products for major homebuilders nationwide.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal contact and subject matter expert for StreetEasy and New Construction business lines.
- Support all stages of the product development lifecycle, including product design, marketing materials, vendor and partner contracts, customer service scripts, data use and privacy considerations, disclosures, and terms of use.
- Provide tactical and pragmatic legal counsel for special projects, pilot programs, and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate proactively with cross-functional teams such as privacy, fair housing, finance, compliance, licensing, communications, and marketing to address novel legal issues.
- Analyze legislative changes affecting assigned products and coordinate with government relations and product teams to implement necessary adjustments.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including key strategic partnerships.
- Work closely with internal partners including other product attorneys, privacy, finance, tax, risk management, and information security teams.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree with active state bar admission.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a national or regional law firm or in-house legal department, preferably within a technology company.
- Experience with licensing, marketing, intellectual property, and commercial agreements.
- Familiarity with real estate regulatory frameworks, particularly the New York real estate market and the national homebuilder landscape, is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills with an innovative and goal-oriented approach.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and persuasive legal advice.
- Exceptional attention to detail, proactive work ethic, and strong drafting and negotiation capabilities.
- Project management skills with the ability to create clarity from ambiguity and efficiently drive projects to completion.
- Collaborative mindset with demonstrated ability to work across departments and organizational levels.
Compensation & Benefits
- This is a remote position open to U.S. residents in all 50 states, with some location exceptions.
- Base salary ranges vary by location:
- California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC: $160,900 - $257,100 annually.
- Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont: $152,900 - $244,300 annually.
- Eligibility for equity awards based on experience, performance, and location.
- Compensation will not fall below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the employee's state of residence.

- Remote position; employees work from a location of their choice within the United States, subject to company policies and state-specific requirements.
