Overview
A leading organization in the Enterprise Technology sector is seeking a Senior Counsel for the U.S. Public Sector. This role involves leading legal initiatives related to scalable systems, platform reliability, and operational transformation. The position requires collaboration across engineering, product, and business teams to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The role offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and long-term innovation within a technology-driven environment.
Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only; no visa sponsorship available)
Compensation: $194,000 – $230,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal legal partner to various teams within the U.S. Public Sector business
- Lead negotiations and draft complex software licenses and agreements
- Develop and refine internal policies and contract templates to streamline the sales cycle
- Ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS and evolving data regulations
- Manage external legal advisors to align their services with organizational goals
- Identify and propose strategies to mitigate legal and regulatory risks
- Provide thought leadership on public sector law and policy developments
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship required
- Native or bilingual fluency in English
- Minimum of 10 years of legal experience in government contracting, with a combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred
- Deep understanding of the public cloud space and FedRAMP authorizations
- Expertise in SaaS regulatory compliance and data protection issues
- Exceptional communication skills to explain complex legal issues to non-legal audiences
- Experience supporting enterprise-level sales teams
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of SaaS agreements, FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-171
- Familiarity with FAR/DFARS compliance and cloud computing
- Experience with contract templates and data protection regulations
- Understanding of public sector law and government contracting
- Proficiency with negotiation tools such as DocuSign or Adobe Sign
- Experience using compliance monitoring software, CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), legal management software (e.g., Clio or MyCase), and project management tools (e.g., JIRA or Trello)
