Overview

An insurance organization is seeking an experienced trial attorney to handle cases throughout Northern California. This role involves working remotely with in-person appearances and trials as required. Candidates from across California are welcome to apply. Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in all areas of insurance defense practice, managing cases primarily of moderate to high complexity and exposure or involving unique insurance defense issues.
  • Manage all phases of cases from intake through resolution.
  • Litigate moderate to high complexity cases, including preparation of pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
  • Serve as lead attorney at hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Develop trial strategies and arguments.
  • Analyze legal precedents to assess probable case outcomes.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of case approaches.
  • Consult with Claims Executive team to provide legal strategy recommendations on personal injury claims.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Interpret applicable industry laws, rulings, and regulations.
  • Functionally supervise and mentor attorneys assisting with cases.

Physical Requirements

  • Work performed primarily indoors in a climate-controlled office or virtually.
  • May require travel between offices, alternative work locations, and field sites.
  • Frequent sitting or standing for prolonged periods.
  • Occasional movement including navigating stairs, ramps, and uneven surfaces.
  • Occasionally lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, mousing, and writing.
  • Ability to perform fine motor tasks and maintain clear vision and adequate hearing, with or without correction.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Licensed to practice law in applicable states upon hire.
  • Minimum of seven years of litigation experience.
  • Experience in insurance defense, personal injury, and/or jury trials required.
  • First and second chair trial experience in bodily injury litigation strongly preferred.
  • Multistate jurisdictional practice preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience, qualifications, and location.
  • Salary range for California: $129,075 - $219,780.
