Overview
This hybrid role supports two key legal functions: Intellectual Property and Commercial Contracting. The position involves assisting with patent, trademark, and copyright matters while also partnering with commercial and procurement teams to manage contracting processes across the enterprise. It offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of legal strategy, innovation, and business operations.
Responsibilities
- Support patent prosecution by assisting in-house and outside counsel with preparation, filing, and prosecution of PCT applications and related documents.
- Prepare foreign filing packets, associated forms, and correspondence; manage formalities for foreign counsel to file and prosecute nationalized foreign patent applications.
- Review communications from outside counsel, identify required actions, and provide clear instructions under in-house counsel direction to advance matters efficiently.
- Manage the intellectual property portfolio by tracking and maintaining the patent docket and coordinating with internal stakeholders and outside counsel.
- Prepare reports to help the business understand the content and value of IP assets.
- Develop materials for Intellectual Property review committees and provide administrative support for patent filing and maintenance decisions.
- Support the Global Procurement Center of Excellence and Commercial Contracting Team by managing, reviewing, revising, and drafting commercial agreements under attorney supervision.
- Draft responses to client inquiries related to procurement and commercial agreements.
- Create reports, charts, and summaries on contract volume, status, and other metrics for the procurement team.
- Coordinate legal workflow by processing incoming contract requests, gathering necessary information, and routing matters appropriately.
- Use contract management and tracking tools to monitor contract status, deadlines, and key dates.
- Assign contract matters to attorneys and track workload distribution.
- Participate in operational excellence initiatives by helping define and execute team policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Maintain accurate contract records and databases.
Qualifications
- College degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate law department, preferably with similar responsibilities.
- Proven ability to proactively engage outside counsel and business clients.
- Experience with intellectual property docketing systems preferred.
- Familiarity with patent annuity systems (e.g., Computer Packages Inc. (CPI), Questel) preferred.
- Experience with commercial contracts, including review and revision of Data Privacy Agreements, Business Associate Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, and Information Security Agreements preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, highly organized, motivated, creative, and detail-oriented.

Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated salary range: $80,900 - $115,500
