Overview
A leading provider of on-demand legal talent is seeking a senior construction and energy lawyer for a part-time secondment based in Sydney. This role supports a major international energy and infrastructure organization and involves close collaboration with the General Counsel and commercial leadership. The position focuses on contract drafting and negotiation, procurement processes, regulatory compliance, and operational legal support across complex projects. It is suited for an experienced commercial or construction lawyer who thrives in a business-facing environment with significant stakeholder engagement and the ability to influence project outcomes within a fast-paced, highly regulated sector.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal support on construction, infrastructure, energy, and commercial matters, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts.
- Advise on procurement, tendering, and multi-jurisdictional project documentation to support ongoing operational needs.
- Manage stakeholder engagement with internal teams, external partners, and project leads to ensure alignment on legal risk and commercial objectives.
- Ensure compliance oversight across regulatory, contractual, and corporate governance requirements relevant to the energy and infrastructure sectors.
- Support dispute resolution by identifying risks early, preparing documentation, and coordinating with external counsel as needed.
Requirements
- Expertise in construction or energy law with demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial, procurement, or project agreements.
- Experience advising stakeholders by providing clear, practical legal guidance to business teams, project managers, and senior leadership.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance matters relevant to infrastructure, energy, procurement, or large-scale commercial operations.
- Strong matter and workflow management skills, including the ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple active matters efficiently.
