Overview
This role supports Indirect Procurement within Operations, R&D & IT as a Senior Legal Counsel. Reporting to the Senior Director, Legal Counsel for Operations, R&D & IT, you will serve as a strategic, practical legal partner to operational functions, working closely with attorneys, paralegals, and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic and practical legal partner supporting operational functions through:
- Commercial contracting
- Transactional counseling
- Dispute resolution
- Practical risk management
- Provide legal guidance for Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, collaborating with subject matter experts across the organization.
- Contribute to the development of legal support personnel by directing contract review activities, identifying issues, prioritizing workload, and escalating legal and business matters.
- Support the development and maintenance of contract templates, playbooks, training materials, and other contracting resources.
- Additional responsibilities may expand over time based on business needs.
Requirements
- 5+ years drafting, negotiating, and advising on complex commercial agreements, preferably in regulated industries (life sciences, healthcare, or technology).
- Strong ability to build trusted relationships across business functions and levels.
- Capability to balance legal risk management with practical business objectives.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts in clear, actionable business terms.
- Proven track record managing a diverse portfolio of matters while balancing competing business priorities and stakeholder needs.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage matters from inception through resolution, balancing autonomy, collaboration, and escalation when appropriate.
- Experience leveraging legal support personnel by directing work, reviewing escalated issues, and focusing attorney resources on matters with heightened legal, commercial, or business complexity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5–8 years related experience.

- Salary: $135,100.00 - $225,100.00

Location / Work Setup
- Flex Workplace: primary location will be a home office.
- No assigned workstation.
- Work with your manager to determine office visit needs.
- Must live within commuting distance of your assigned site (typically 75 miles/120km).
Travel Required
