This contractual position involves conducting detailed legal research and analysis to support critical legal and business decisions. The role focuses on the intersection of technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and legal analysis, requiring precision and technical expertise to deliver accurate insights. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive legal research using primary and secondary sources such as case law, statutes, regulations, administrative decisions, and legal treatises.
- Analyze complex legal issues and produce written summaries, memoranda, and recommendations to guide policy, product development, and risk management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, product managers, and legal professionals to incorporate legal insights into technical and business workflows.
- Evaluate the legal implications of emerging technologies, algorithms, and data processing practices to ensure compliance with evolving regulations.
- Stay current on legal developments in areas including AI governance, data privacy, intellectual property, and industry-specific regulations.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal qualification from an accredited institution.
- At least 3 years of post-qualification experience in legal research, preferably in technology, AI, or a high-growth commercial sector.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex legal and technical materials.
- Experience researching AI-related legal issues such as algorithmic accountability, bias, transparency, or regulatory compliance in automated decision-making.
- Proficiency with legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis, Bloomberg Law) and familiarity with AI tools or platforms used in legal analysis.
